Search Engine Submission

A search engine is like picking up the Yellow Pages, finding the category you're interested in, and looking up who the suppliers are. On the Internet, one goes to a search engine to either find information or to find a supplier of a product. Just like putting your company name and contact details in the Yellow Pages, you can also list your website on the search engines. This does take time and you musn't expect for your website to placed in the top ranking where it will instantly get hits, but this is mostly dependent on your niche in the market and is mostly dependent on how much competition you have. That is if you are advertising a b&b in cornwall, you will find you are competing against 100's or 1000's of other websites. However if you are advertising somthing like 'childrens parties in st ives, cornwall' you will find it much easier to have your website come up first. Don't worry though if you are competing against loads of other websites, as there are many ways to get your site up there.

Once you have a website, here are some suggested Search engines to submit your website to:

1. Registering your site with www.google.com Currently google is the best and highest rated search engine on the internet.

If you want to help Google index your website correctly, it's important that you submit your site to Google. It only takes a minute and is worthwhile.

Although it won't necessarily get you to the top of the search engine, at least if someone types your website into the search engine it will find you easily.

Go to: http://www.google.com/addurl/

• Enter your website address in the first text box.
• Enter a brief description of what you are offering on your website in the second text box. Include a few keywords that you wish to be associated with the site. 
• Click the AddUrl button when you have completed the required fields. That's it, you're done!

2. Also go to:

http://www.submitawebsite.com/seo-tools/search-engine-submission.html

 and do the same, as this website adds your site to all the major search engines including Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask, Jayde

3. For submitting to search engines around the world, go to: http://www.searchenginecolossus.com

• Once that page has loaded you will see a list of all the countries in the World.
• Click on the country where you would like to advertise and then a list of all the search engines in that country will appear in alphabetical order.
• Click on each search engine name in turn, and look for the words ADD URL or ADVERTISE WITH US
• When you see those words, click on them and a new page will pop up requesting you to fill in your U.R.L.- your Website address.
• You will often be asked for a description of your site. Your description should include words that you think other people are going to use when they search for a site like yours.

Keep a record on your computer where you record the links of the search engines you've listed your site on and the date. We recommend that once a month you come back to these same search engines and resubmit your site. This will help your site to remain listed. So plan your attack! And have fun!
